The Symposium and Policy Forum ‘Primary Health Care and Social Science - Policies and Practices for Healthy Living was held on Friday 22 November at 18:00 in the Hitotsubashi Hall.
The event was undertaken to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Hitotsubashi University. Under the general theme of primary health care, the symposium focused on: community health care in Japan, global health and primary health care. In the area of Japanese community health care, the topics of health literacy, health care purchasing arrangements and home health care were discussed, while from the perspective of global health, financing systems to support ‘people-centred’ health care service delivery was discussed. Discussants provided an overview of the presentations given in the 1st and 2nd sessions from the perspectives of health administration, public finance and social security. Subsequently, all presenters and discussants responded to questions from the audience. The symposium had 95 participants on site and 206 participants online and provided the opportunity to deepen understanding of the community health systems that enable people to live in good health in the areas where they reside.
