HIAS Health is seeking an Assistant Professor or a Research Associate. (Closing date is Friday 29th March 2024 (JST).)

Salary- Annual salary: Approximately JPY 4,900,000–6,800,000 (Bonus included. Salary will be determined based
on the University’s judgement.) (Annual salary represents income before tax.)
- Allowance will be paid in accordance with the regulations of the university.
Period of employment- From 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2027 (The start date is negotiable. The employment period will be three years
from the start date.).
- Probation period: Six months

Scope of work1. Research on issues related to health policy and health systems (see the HIAS-Health website for past and ongoing research projects)
2. Participation in HIAS-Health collaborative and/or commissioned research with national and international research institutions and government agencies
3. Other work related to the activities of HIAS-Health
4. Minimum amount administrative duties, such as enrollment exam-related duties.
Qualifications (required skills, experiences etc.)1. Must have, or be soon to obtain, a Ph.D. in a relevant academic field, such as health economics, health policy, or public health
2. Possess the necessary skills and experience to undertake health economics and/or health policy related research, including skills in statistical analysis, policy analysis, implementation research, and synthesis of existing evidence
3. Well established knowledge of health systems
4. Ability to write articles for peer-reviewed journals and to obtain competitive research funding
5. Strong communication skills and the ability to facilitate teamwork
Work days and hours- Workhours are deemed as 7 hours and 45 minutes per weekday / 38 hours and 45 minutes per week, in accordance with the Discretionary Work System for Professional Work.
- Work days are 5 days a week, Monday through Friday.
Holidays- Saturdays and Sundays, national holidays, new year holidays (Dec. 29-Jan.3), and other holidays designated by the president of the University
Leave- Annual paid leave (maximum of 20 days), special leave (refreshment leave, wedding leave, maternal/parental leave before and after childbirth, childcare leave, sick/injured childcare leave, family care leave, condolence leave, etc.), parental leave (until the child reaches 3 years of age), caregiver leave, etc
Social insuranceEmployment insurance; industrial accident compensation insurance; health insurance; and pension insurance
